Liverpool Ladies Vs Leeds Becket


Saturday 1st October 2016 saw Liverpool Ladies travel to Headingly to take on Leeds Becket / Carnegie in the opening game of the women’s RDL. Liverpool, who are suffering from the disappointment of losing experienced players to both age and long term injuries were re-juvenated by new players joining the club.
From the whistle, a new look Liverpool played with fresh enthusiasm and competitiveness, gelling well together as a team. A strong defence, a number of well worked attacking moves and fast breaks quickly established a healthy lead going into the half time break ahead 4 – 23.
The second half  saw Liverpool again play some lovely handball with the new players playing with confidence and enjoyment.  All players experienced court time which reflected in every player getting on the score sheet, even Liverpool’s versatile goal keeper managed to despatch a penalty. With some fatigue beginning to set in towards the end, all players gave vital contributions to the overall game.  Liverpool ran out as winners  14 – 47.
A big thank you to Leeds Carnegie for their contribution and effort throughout the game.  We look forward to welcoming you to the return fixture.
