Manchester HC V Liverpool HC

Sunday 15th Jan 2017, Manchester Soccerdome, Trafford Park.

Fresh from the confidence of a good competitive friendly game against Australia, an unbeaten Liverpool women’s travelled to Manchester HC for their first competitive game in 2017.  Despite being crippled by injuries, Liverpool lined up with a spread of youth (Brook n Tori), experience (Carolyn n Russia) n a brace of European imports (you know who you are).  These were the ingredients of a formidable Liverpool team.

A strong solid warm up saw Liverpool fly out of the blocks, some strong defence and fluent attacks saw Liverpool end the first half leading 14-6.

The second half continued much as the first, fast breaks, solid defence and some  cracking saves from Liverpools reliable goalkeeper Kajka Wojtowicz, saw Liverpool run out as overall winners at 23-15. A Wojtowick 9, Partington 4, Tubaka 4, Janus 4, Dowling 4 & Szucs 3. Particular congratulations to Rosza Szucs for staying on court for the duration without receiving any 2 minute suspensions, her fathers magic juice is clearly working miracles.

An impressive away performance by Liverpool, even the meatballs at Ikea were apparently cooked to perfection.

We would like to thanks our host Manchester for a competitive game and wish you all the best for the season.

Liverpool continue to set the pace in the RDL and would encourage any aspiring green army players to come and join us at training at Greenbank, Thursday 8-10pm, although we are flexible for breaks for oxygen relief or chatting (mostly about Corrie??).
