LHC Womens vs Pennisula Friendly

Liverpool ladies played there first game of the season on Saturday 8th September, a friendly against premier league team Peninsula HC.

Liverpool started with just seven players due to students being away, however a debut for Jess Holland, and returning players Eliza and Babett with regular players Essi, Brooke, Marta and Judit made up the team.

The game started with Essi kindly offering to play in goal (what a Saint), with peninsula taking an early 3 goal lead which was brought back to 4-2. By half time the score was 14-10 to Peninsula, it could have been a lot closer but for some good goalkeeping, most of Peninsulas goals coming from fast breaks.

With the young Liverpool  side still creating many chances the second half took its toll especially when Captain Marta got an injury when she turned her ankle when running through on goal. When this happened peninsula assisted us with use of a keeper and the game ended with 35-24 score line which was a pleasing opening friendly for our girls with still a month to go before the season starts.

Goal scorers Marta 3, Essi 3, Judit 3,  Eliza 2,  Brooke 5,  Babbet 8
Our next fixture will be out opening game of the season against the University of Leeds on the 21st of October at the Manchester Soccerdome. If you can please come and support the team.
